Longtime Carolina Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell has received permission to speak to other teams, a league source confirmed to The Athletic's on Thursday. Waddell interviewed with the Columbus Blue Jackets about their open GM position Thursday. Waddell's contract set to expire, and the Hurricanes already are having conversations about a new GM in anticipation of his eventual departure.
