Professional Growth Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. But until 2020, when the U.S. Supreme Court decided the landmark case Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia, it was not clear that “sex” extends to sexual orientation and gender identity.
