Monksland based company Novo Nordisk is seeking planning permission to construct a temporary contractor’s car park to accommodate up to 363 parking spaces. The Danish pharma firm has lodged plans with Roscommon County Council to develop the park and ride facility in association with the on-going refurbishment works at its campus. The site in question is located approximately 0.5km to the west of the existing South Roscommon campus.

The county coroner has warned of the tragic consequences of driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The coroner made his comments as details of a young driver’s death in a single vehicle accident in Roscommon two years ago were outlined at an inquest in Ballaghaderreen. The inquest heard that the young man was over the legal drink-driving limit. He also had traces of cocaine in his system.

A specialist company has been drafted in from the UK to assist in the investigation into the house explosion in Frenchpark which claimed the life of 72-year-old Des Deegan. The specialist team arrived on site today, Friday, to examine the rubble of the house which was completely destroyed on Wednesday evening. Local residents in The Oaks estate in Frenchpark village recounted hearing the sound of an explosion before the house went on fire.
