    In resounding fashion, the team of Nick Maccario and Will Davenport won the 57th edition of the Champions Cup Invitational by 8 shots on Sunday at Champions Golf Club. The winners dominated the 72-hole tournament played in challenging weather conditions. Maccario (Waltham, Mass.) and Davenport (Boynton Beach, Fla.) carded a four-day total 20-under par 264 over the Cypress Creek Course. The pair posted rounds of 67-64-64-69.

    Each round of the Texas Children's Houston Open, Sami Valimaki's score progressively improved. That is saying something since in the third round he fired a 6-under 64. For Sunday's final round, he closed with a course-tying record 8-under 62. His 17 under over four rounds at Memorial Park Golf Course gave him a fourth-place finish, 3 shots behind winner Min Woo Lee. Not bad for someone who began Thursday's opening round at level-par 70. But Sunday was special.

    Going off in the first grouping of Saturday's third round, Davis Thompson came out firing. At one point he briefly held the lead. The 2024 John Deere Classic winner birdied the first three holes and six on the front, coming in at 29. Over 18 holes he carded nine birdies en route to a 6-under 64. His 10 under is good for a share of 10th entering Sunday's final round of the Texas Children's Houston Open.

    Gary Woodland has been knocking on the door to get his 2025 season up to form. On Friday, he found his groove. Starting his round on the 10th tee, the 2019 U.S. Open winner birdied his final five holes and six of seven to record a 6-under-64. His 7-under total over two rounds has him in position to do some damage over the next two days. Woodland came home with an astounding 29.     Sam Ryder said his 2025 season has been good, not great. Although he feels it is on the cusp of greatness. Ryder has made the cut in all eight PGA Tour events he has played this year. That consistency could lead to greater things. Like notching that elusive first win on tour. In Thursday's opening round of the Texas Children's Houston Open, Ryder carded a 4-under 66. At one point Ryder reached 6 under, two clear of the field.
