ATLANTA — Another Republican state lawmaker has announced that he is running to be the next attorney general of Georgia. State Sen. Brian Strickland announced Tuesday that he’ll run against state Sen. Bill Cowsert for the nomination. The post is being left open because the current attorney general, Chris Carr, is running for governor.

ATLANTA — The race for lieutenant governor got a little more crowded on Monday as Macon Republican state Sen. John Kennedy announced he’s a candidate. So far, one Democrat and two Republicans have thrown their hat into the race, but that number will probably change. Kennedy is currently the president pro tem of the Senate and told Channel 2’s Richard Elliot that he’s concerned about the economy, public safety, and education. He thinks he can stand out from other republican candidates.

ATLANTA — Some Democratic state senators are demanding that the state attorney general clarify just what the Georgia Life Act covers. The law essentially bans all abortions in Georgia after about six weeks. The move comes over controversy surrounding the case of Adriana Smith, a pregnant woman from Lithonia. Her mother said she’s brain-dead but is being kept on life support at Emory Midtown.
