    Ethan Leonard Wadley a middle school student from Lithia Springs was named the recipient of a Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship, which provides a four-year school scholarship to attend a high school or equivalent program to meet his advanced intellectual needs. Wadley, an eighth-grader at The Westminster Schools, was named earlier this fall among the 26 gifted student recipients in the class of 2029.

    With over 211,000 votes counted, the recall attempt for progressive Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price appears to have been successful. The latest election results, released Thursday night, show  the yes for recall votes ahead, with nearly 65% of voters agreeing to recall Price. On Wednesday, Price released a statement on her Instagram account urging patience and optimism while votes were still being counted at the Alameda County Registrar of Voters.

Southwire celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Back to School event this year, donating 30,000 backpacks full of school supplies to students in more than 25 communities and expanding its My Favorite Teacher competition.

    October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also called National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Douglasville nonprofit Gertrude’s House recognizes survivor Elaine Sagoes, 69, turning 70 in December. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was started in 1985 by the American Cancer Society and Imperial Chemical Industries. The initial purpose of the month was to promote mammograms as the first line of defense against breast cancer.
