For years, a 5,000-gallon reservoir in Watertown's Thompson Park has been losing thousands of gallons of water a day. The leak could be seen near the Franklin Street entrance, as the treated water flowed out of the park into a drainage ditch. Officials have known about this leak for decades.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the start of a major bridge replacement in Herkimer County. According to a press release, the $20.5 million infrastructure project will replace the I-90 bridge over Mohawk Street on Route 28 in the village of Herkimer. The current bridge is as old as the Thruway system itself. Around 24,000 vehicles drive over the bridge every day. Oncoming traffic will shift to one side of the bridge while under construction.

Researchers at SUNY Canton are experimenting with new materials that could make houses more resistant to natural disasters. In a lab, Civil and Environmental Engineering students at SUNY Canton are testing the strength of concrete by breaking cylinders in a hydraulic press. "That basically tells you how many pounds it takes to break the piece of concrete in there," Green explains as the hydraulic press splits the concrete with a loud pop.

Ski resorts in the Adirondacks are preparing to wrap up for the season. Whiteface and Gore Mountain ski resorts will be closed for the day on Thursday. The forecast calls for highs near 60 and rain. Over in Franklin County, Titus Mountain’s ski trails are closed for the season as spring weather rolls in. Whiteface plans to reopen this weekend. But mountain officials say the rest of the season is up in the air as the weather changes.

Nine employees from a saw mill in the Adirondacks are set to be deported after a federal immigration raid. That’s according to the Matra Group, which owns the mill. About a month ago, ICE raided the Tupper Lake pine mill and detained nine of its employees. Matra Group, based in Quebec, says ICE has confirmed that the employees are being deported. According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, the Matra Group said it has not heard from any of its detained employees since the raid.
