Welcome to Home & Away. I will start with the Jewish holiday of Passover, which began last Saturday night and runs through this weekend. The commemoration of the Jewish people’s liberation from slavery in Egypt always resonates, but rarely as much as this year. In part this reflects the ongoing plight of the remaining hostages in Gaza, who are now marking 18 months of captivity, modern-day Israelites, if you will.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated that Kyiv has defined its vision for the text of a future agreement on critical minerals, emphasising that it is a matter of principle to ensure the deal does not contradict Ukraine's path towards EU accession. Sybiha said in a comment to the Ukrinform news agency that Kyiv is currently finalising the composition of its negotiating team, which will soon travel to the US to hold detailed discussions on the draft agreement proposed by Washington.

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has stated that Ukraine is expected to receive two F-16 fighter jets for spare parts this year, with the timing of the deliveries depending on when Belgium itself will receive the F-35 fighter jets it has ordered. De Wever was asked during a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv about the timing of the promised F-16 deliveries. "We will deliver two F-16s for spare parts this year and certainly deliver two fighter planes next year.

Belgium will provide Ukraine with an aid package worth €1 billion, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has announced on a visit to Kyiv on 8 April. The prime minister unveiled a new decision to allocate a €1 billion assistance package for Ukraine in 2025. He stated that Belgium will allocate €1 billion annually for defence purposes. De Wever expressed strong interest in establishing Belgian defence production in Ukraine and noted that four relevant contracts had been signed today.

.@SteveWitkoff: We can live with a deal that would allow Iran limited amount of low-level enrichment so long as stiff verification. Total elimination unlikely to be negotiable. More important that any deal not be time bound. That was fatal flaw of the JCPOA.

“A deal with Iran will only be completed if it is a Trump deal. Any final arrangement must set a framework for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Middle East -- meaning that Iran must stop and eliminate its nuclear enrichment and weaponization program. It is imperative for
