    The British Virgin Islands ("BVI") continues to strengthen its financial services sector by aligning with international standards, including those set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). The BVI Business Companies (Amendment) Act 2024 (the "Amendment Act"), which modifies the BVI Business Companies Act (the "Act"), was published in the BVI Gazette on 26 September 2024. While it has not yet come into force, it's anticipated to be implemented soon.

The law, which will end a ­nationwide debate over what is already a common practice, also proposes drills for middle school pupils – aged 12 to 15 – and says defence education should be part of the syllabus even for primary school children.

    China has a new fleet of spy satellites that could be used to target warships of the US and allies such as Australia during a potential war over Taiwan, space chiefs from the United States have said. Beijing has tripled the number of its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance satellites in orbit to 350 in six years as it develops military capabilities in space at a “breathtaking” speed, said the head of the US Space Command.
