While there is undoubtedly value in a tight, linear narrative like what is seen in the brilliant Last of Us games, deliberately convoluted stories can provide plenty of fun long after players have rolled credits. The Kingdom Hearts franchise is notorious for having an engaging but hard-to-follow storyline, as is Metal Gear Solid, the latter of which includes some of my all-time favorite games.

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 4 skipping a new map release in favor of reviving Grief, it’s looking increasingly likely that Janus Towers will serve as BO6’s finale. This would undoubtedly put extra pressure on the map to stick the landing, as it needs to provide a satisfying resolution to the conflict between the SAM AI and Edward Richtofen while setting up the continuation of the Dark Aether saga in Call of Duty 2026.

Since it debuted in 2008, Call of Duty Zombies has regularly introduced iconic Wonder Weapons for players to wield against the undead. Given that some of these weapons have become fan favorites, it is no surprise that they have made appearances outside their original map. The Ray Gun has shown up time and time again, as has its successor the Ray Gun Mark 2.
