    The following incidents occurred on Tuesday, June 3. At 9:13 a.m., officers came into contact with a wanted individual. David James Day, 44, of Keokuk, was arrested on a warrant for Possession of Marijuana-2nd, a Serious Misdemeanor, and a warrant for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. Both warrants were out of Washington County. Day was also charged with another count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.

    GALESBURG — Sandburg has released the names of students who qualified for the dean’s list and honors list for the 2025 spring semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). To qualify for the honors list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.0-3.49.

    KPD reports the following as taking place Friday through early Monday, May 30-June 2, plus an accident from May 20. May 20At 5:28 p.m. Kaitlin M. Krueger, 37, of Hamilton, Illinois, was driving a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica eastbound in the 2000 block of Main Street. Krueger was required to yield and slow down to a vehicle turning into the Farm & Home parking lot when Micah Gene Kay, 17, of Keokuk, driving a 2008 Kia, did not slow down and hit the back of the Krueger vehicle.

    The following incidents were reported as taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27 and 28. TuesdayAt 12:52 p.m., KFD responded to a motor vehicle fire. Upon arrival, the engine compartment of a 2000 Ford F-150 was fully engulfed with flames and heavy smoke showing. The vehicle was parked next to a garage, but the fire was contained to the truck only. KFD personnel extinguished the fire with tank water. The cause of the fire was undetermined. Fire personnel remained on scene for about 30 minutes.

    STORM LAKE, Iowa – Buena Vista University congratulates more than 400 students who graduated in spring 2025. Local students who graduated include:Sydra Nelson of Montrose graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education. Madison Stearns of St. Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in human services. Tegan Burbridge of Canton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and human services.
