Australia's financial crime watchdog today announced a crackdown on scams linked to cryptocurrency ATMs which are costing people millions of dollars. AUSTRAC says regulation has lagged behind the explosion in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs, with criminals exploiting the use of the machines. They enable users to buy or sell cryptocurrency with cash, and can be exploited by criminals who pressure victims into using these machines to send them cryptocurrency.

One in three Australian men have admitted to committing intimate partner violence, new world-leading research has found. The Australian Institute of Family Studies' Ten to Men study is the biggest of its kind. In 2013-2014, it began monitoring about 16,000 boys, and a decade later added a further 10,000 men to the research. Intimate partner violence or IPV is defined as physical and emotional abuse.

Indian customs officers have arrested a man for attempting to smuggle venomous snakes and other reptiles into the country. He was stopped by officials at Mumbai airport on Sunday after flying from Thailand, the BBC reports. The Indian citizen's checked-in luggage was found to have 47 hidden reptiles, including venomous pythons. They were seized under Indian wildlife protection laws. The man remains in custody and has not been identified.

The Pentagon chief provoked a diplomatic storm in a speech to a regional security forum in Singapore on the weekend when he said China was seeking dominance over the Indo-Pacific.
