The Northwest Passage is a famously treacherous and mysterious area of the Arctic. In the 1800s, a British crew of over 120 men disappeared while trying to find the passage. Jackson, New Hampshire author and adventurer Mark Synnott was already eager to sail the Arctic waters when he first learned about the unsolved shipwreck.

The Market Basket board of directors put CEO Arthur T. Demoulas on leave this week. The board said he was planning a work stoppage at Market Basket stores and also demanded that his children be named successors to the grocery store chain when he retires. Demoulas says his ousting is a hostile takeover by the board.

A view of Saint-Gobain's Merrimack facility (Mara Hoplamazian)In 2016, the manufacturing company Saint-Gobain told New Hampshire officials it found PFAS – also called forever chemicals – in the public water supply near its Merrimack facility. The company responded by providing some residents with safe drinking water indefinitely. Now Saint-Gobain is leaving the state and it’s unclear what future clean up efforts might look like.
