At least two law firms are advising on Canadian energy company North Atlantic’s “exclusive” negotiations with ExxonMobil to acquire the U.S. giant’s refining operations and related assets in France. Bredin Prat is advising North Atlantic on its plan to acquire the 82.89% stake that ExxonMobil holds in Esso Société Anonyme Française and to acquire 100% of ExxonMobil Chemical France SAS, the firm said.

Clifford Chance has hired the head of Deloitte’s legal outpost in Spain as a partner for its commercial litigation and regulatory investigations practice based in Madrid. María Guinot will join Clifford Chance in the coming weeks. She arrives after close to six years as a partner at Deloitte Legal Spain, where she also leads the regulatory department. Guinot, with more than 20 years of experience, is also a senior state attorney on a leave of absence.
