The Third Annual Arnprior Lions Jail and Bail had more comedy and drama than ever before, as the fundraiser nestled into the Giant Tiger Parking Lot Saturday. 19 offenders were incarcerated, with the goal to see bail funds raised from a supportive audience- the twist being the judge could be legally bribed by hecklers to keep you locked away longer. The money would be used locally for the club’s community activities. The criminals came from all walks of life, including municipal- as in Scott Brum.

Almonte is vying for your attention Canada day, as the Mississippi Mills community offers a full slate of activities in Gemmill Park. The fun begins at 3PM with Bouncy Castles, Face Painting by the Mississippi Mills youth Centre, JB Arts t-shirt making, Flag Football and Volleyball and resident Entertainer Jon the Cowguy. Musical performances on the Saddle Dome stage include Pareidolia, Sommerset Quartet, Amber Humby, Rothwell and Moffatt, TRiPOD, The Sadies and Steve Marriner.

The Mississippi Mills Fireballs have smoked the competition!Local firefighters took top honurs at the 113th EOFA Games, held last weekend in Merrickville. Their strength, skill, and team spirit lit up the competition from hose relays to ladder races at the incredible event. Now, the torch has officially been passed, as Mississippi Mills will be hosting the 114th Eastern Ontario Firefighters Association Games in 2026. By Rick Stow
