Just outside Horb am Neckar, a town in the southwest of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, contractors are constructing a new 1.3-mile highway bypass project that will span the 70 meter (230 feet) deep Necker River valley. The bypass will relieve Horb’s city center from heavy traffic when completed by connecting two state highways. The bypass project’s centerpiece is the Horb High Bridge. At its height of 667 m (2189 feet), the bridge is impressive.

The Face CompaniesCiclo Engengharia, from Brazil, won a Golden Trowel for a Wet Screed/Hand-Screeded floor, with 4 Kg/m2 Dry Shake. This floor was at Assai Guarulhos, in Guarulhos, SP, Brazil. It measured FF 95.6/FL 73.1. Before this year, only three other floors in this category had better F-Numbers.

Historians attribute the initial practice of simulating a natural stone's appearance with a mixture of cementitious materials and aggregates to ancient Roman builders. The engineers used a series of mixtures, opus caementicium, to cast artificial stonework that would match other pieces of natural stone on their iconic structures.

The White House must adjust how it implements requirements for construction materials or risk weakening the impact of federal infrastructure funding, trades groups said in a petition. A coalition of building trade groups petitioned the White House Office of Management and Budget last week to clarify and adjust its implementation of Build America, Buy America requirements for construction materials, saying that they risk delaying and inflating the cost of infrastructure work as-is.
