I live a few kilometers from where Hardeep Singh Nijjar was recently shot by masked men in Surrey, Canada. For me and my neighbors, it has generally been a safe place to raise our kids and speak our minds. So, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested it was the site of a political assassination by India’s government, it was deeply disturbing. Perhaps we should not be shocked. Close observers have long been concerned about the domestic repression of India’s ruling party, the BJP.
