The Salford Red Devils have chosen to appeal the two-match ban handed to Joe Shorrocks in the loss to Leeds Rhinos last weekend, which could prove costly. The RFL issued 10 Super League players with disciplinary charges after Round 2, with Shorrocks the first to be banned this season. Shorrocks’ high tackle on Brodie Croft saw the Leeds Rhinos half-back removed from the field, who then failed his Head Injury Assessment.

Necessary tweaks to the IMG Grading criteria have been confirmed on Wednesday afternoon following the convention of the Rugby League Council and approval from the RFL Board. This year saw the first active implementation of the IMG’s grading system put into place, with nine clubs awarded a Grade A status, exempting them from Super League relegation.
