ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The city of Albany will be holding a townhall meeting regarding the AMI utility meters. The event will be hosted by ward 3 commissioner Vilnis Gaines and it will take place this Thursday at 6 p-m. The address is 1023 S. McKinley St. Speakers at the meeting include the city’s utility operations director and the administrative services director. WALB has previously reported on Albany residents receiving utility bills that are double or triple the amount from the month before.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -Tonight’s the night! Albany will be hosting “a night of elegance” senior citizens prom night for ages 50 and up! This special event will be held at the Albany civic center from 7 to 11pm. Tickets are 30 dollars and no tickets will be sold at the door. Every year the event sees over 200 senior citizens...dressed up in their best tuxes and dresses. The event was created as a way to show senior citizens they are appreciated and loved AND ALLOWS THEM to dance the night away.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A wanted man, arrested following a two-day search by Dougherty and Lee County law enforcement, will remain in jail for now. A judge denied bond for Keyshawn Dye this morning in his first court appearance following his arrest. WALB arrived on scene at the Shoreham apartments shortly after authorities captured dye in Albany on Wednesday. the manhunt for dye started Tuesday afternoon-- when officers say he jumped out of a car and ran from a traffic stop on the liberty expressway.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – A judge has temporarily halted the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate the Job Corps program. According to Reuters, U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter issued a temporary restraining order on Wednesday in response to a lawsuit filed by a trade group that operates Job Corps centers. The judge also ordered the U.S. Department of Labor to appear at a court hearing on June 17.
