Iodine is an essential trace element in the human body that plays a vital role in the neurodevelopment during fetal development and early childhood(Reference Delange1,Reference Gulaboglu, Akgul and Akgul2) . Iodine deficiency during pregnancy and infancy may impair the growth and neurodevelopment of the infant and increase infant mortality(Reference Zimmermann3).
