With warming temperatures and unpredictable weather patterns, farmers need timely weather updates to prevent losses. There is low adoption of weather forecast apps and a lack of hyperlocal weather updates. There are also barriers in weather information accessibility. Meanwhile, the weather forecast accuracy is improving and there are efforts to offer counselling to the farmers in regional languages, based on technical weather information.

Updated: Sep 27 2023 2:11PMBy Rituparna Palit New Delhi, Sep 27 (PTI) Mapping flooded areas and stormwater drain networks using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing technology can assist in preventing vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria, which surge during the monsoon every year, say experts. Flooding can create conditions favourable for mosquito breeding, particularly the Aedes mosquitoes responsible for transmitting the dengue virus.
