Now that a ceasefire has been agreed to in Gaza, the bombs will stop falling, and the world will breathe a sigh of relief. There will be celebrations of peace, even if temporary, nations will pat themselves on the back, and the media will move on to the next trending crisis. Yet, for those of us who survived, the war hasn’t ended—it has merely transformed. For us, the war began long before October 7, 2023, and continues in the ashes of what was once our home.

A major problem in American thinking in the Middle East is the utter rejection of the notion that Palestinian rights are fundamental, if at all relevant, to the coveted peace and stability. Long before Donald Trump’s first ‘Deal of the Century’ was officially revealed on January 28, 2020, successive US administrations attempted to ‘stabilize’ the Middle East at the expense of Palestinians.

At 10 p.m. on the night of October 28, 2024, the Israeli air force struck a five-story building in Beit Lahiya, in the northern area of Gaza. Northern Gaza has been pummeled by the Israelis since October 8, 2023. There has been no respite for the residents of this town, which is north of the Jabaliya refugee camp. During the early months of the bombing, Sahar (age 42) fled the area with her 11-year-old son and the rest of her family.

The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu carpet bombed Beirut and its southern suburbs on Tuesday, moments after US President Joe Biden announced a ceasefire between the Zionist regime and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Just before Netanyahu’s security cabinet was scheduled to meet on the deal, the Israeli military launched what has been described as a relentless air assault on the Lebanese capital city, including strikes on residential buildings that house displaced people.

Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israel killed fifteen civilians and injured dozens more on Tuesday when Israeli airstrikes hit Al-Hurriya School in Gaza’s Al-Zaytoun neighborhood. The school housed hundreds of displaced families. Some victims arrived at Al-Mamdani Hospital in fragments, with over 30 wounded, including children and women. Additional airstrikes targeted Al-Saftawi in northwest Gaza, killing one person and injuring others.

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Ministry of Health reported that Israel has committed 7,160 massacres against Palestinian families since October 7, 2023. According to the ministry’s infographic, Israel erased 1,410 families, totaling 5,444 individuals, from Gaza’s civil registry amidst ongoing genocide. The report reveals the devastating toll, with 1,410 families completely wiped out. In addition, 3,463 families were nearly obliterated, leaving only one survivor each.
