NEW YORK - "Garret Crochet". As the Red Sox starting pitcher - Garrett Crochet - sat under the nameplate on his locker at the Yankee Stadium visitors clubhouse, he wasn't oblivious to the "t" that was missing from his first name. "It's the second time it has happened in the last couple of weeks," the lefty said with a chuckle. It was a microcosm of the entire Saturday night. Not perfect, but good enough.

Roman Anthony isn't letting the conversation cool off. The reasons for the Red Sox to promote the outfielder from Triple-A to the majors have been easy to come by. The top prospect in baseball continues to dominate for the Worcester Red Sox, totaling a .916 OPS to go along with more hits of 100 mph or better than any player in the minors. Saturday, Anthony added another feather in his cap. The outfielder blasted a 497-foot grand slam in the eighth inning of Worcester's 10-4 win at Polar Park.

NEW YORK - It was a night many Red Sox, and Red Sox fans, will want to forget. The 9-6, series-opening defeat at the hands of the Yankees was exactly what the doctor didn't order when it came to changing the narrative about Alex Cora's team. For the Red Sox rookie, the date will forever be remembered as when he blasted his first career home run. "It was a good feeling," Mayer said.

NEW YORK - The Duck Test was on full display at Yankee Stadium Friday night: "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."It was the perfect idiom for yet another imperfect game for the Red Sox. The Yankees carried themselves like one of the best teams in baseball, an existence they have lived for much of this season.

When the ball landed 308 feet from home plate, a few feet to the right of the Pesky Pole and a couple of inches away from a curled up fan, reactions across the board were unusual for a walk-off home run. Most at Fenway Park were seemingly just kind of cruising along, fully expecting yet another one-run loss. Not only didn't most not see Ceddanne Rafaela's happen because of the landing spot's proximity, but the vast majority didn't see it coming.
