    I first became interested in references to camels in the patriarchal narratives at Bible College whilst I was writing a short thesis on patriarchal archaeology. At the time I noted that:The mention of ‘camels’ (Camelus dromedarius) in the Genesis narrative (12:16; 24; 30:43; 31:17,34; 32:7,15; 37:25 – 28 references in all) has long been viewed with scepticism; many scholars still citing it as a clear example of an anachronism.
