In his fifth season of professional spring football, Hawai‘i’s Jordan Ta’amu is once again knocking on the door of a league title. The Pearl City graduate and former Ole Miss quarterback will lead the D.C. Defenders into the United Football League Conference Championship this Sunday against the St. Louis Battlehawks, one of Ta’amu’s former teams. Since beginning his pro career in 2020, Ta’amu has tallied more than 10,000 total yards and 72 touchdowns across the XFL, USFL, and now the UFL.

A star-studded lineup from Hawai‘i’s combat sports community will take to the mats on Sunday for the inaugural “Warriors Don’t Bully” workshop, a free self-defense and anti-bullying seminar for keiki, hosted at Hawai‘i Elite MMA in Central O‘ahu. The three-hour event, which filled up within two hours of being announced, will feature mentorship and instruction from some of the state’s most accomplished mixed martial artists.

Maui native and Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy was named a finalist for the 2025 Golden Spikes Award, presented by Chinook Seedery, USA Baseball announced Wednesday. Aloy, a Baldwin High School graduate, is one of three finalists for the prestigious honor, joining Tennessee’s Liam Doyle and Florida State’s Alex Lodise. Through 59 games, Aloy is slashing a team-leading .355/.440/.686. His 20 home runs rank fourth in program history, and his 64 RBIs lead the Razorbacks.

When the Los Angeles Rams open their 2025 training camp on Maui later this month, the NFL franchise will showcase a fresh island-inspired identity, thanks to the creative vision of Hawai’i-born artist Aaron Kai. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools Hawai’i and a native of Hilo, Kai has been commissioned by the Rams to create exclusive artwork for the team’s upcoming camp at War Memorial Stadium, which begins June 16.

Ewa Beach native Kennedy Kila played a pivotal role in leading Southern Oregon to the NAIA softball national championship on Sunday, capping off a standout senior season. The Mililani High School graduate, who transferred to Southern Oregon from Pacific Lutheran, went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the Raiders’ 6-3 win over Oklahoma City in the national title game.
