Sad but not surprised. History will judge Southgate kindly. A shame he couldn't take that final step but he came much closer than any other manager in my lifetime.

After 102 games and almost eight years in charge, Gareth Southgate has announced he is to leave his role as manager of the #ThreeLions.

Sad that FA Cup replays are being scrapped but what is the alternative? Too late to stop Champions League expansion in already packed schedule. Would it be better to get rid of League Cup? I'd rather have 1 great cup competition than 2 watered-down ones.

Shameful that three PRL clubs have gone in a season. How can the next one be avoided? Salary caps have been treated like targets & marquee players signed on insane wages. Should clubs only be allowed to spend a certain % of turnover on players?

Rob Edwards is obviously a very good manager but what stands out about his success at Luton and FGR is he didn't spend loads of money, completely overhaul the squads and bring in his 'own players'. He's made the teams he inherited better. Mark of a top coach

Thinking about the possibility of squad numbers in rugby and the emergence of Louis Rees-Zammit as one of the game's biggest stars, there's got to be a big marketing opportunity there. Could LRZ14 be rugby's version of CR7?

Terribly sad news. When I was covering Gloucester City, Mike was a pleasure to deal with - a true gentleman. He cared so deeply about the club and fought hard to get them home. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Really feel for everyone connected with Worcester Warriors today. Disgraceful the way players and staff have been treated by those abysmal owners and the contempt they've shown to fans. Hope club can still be saved and lessons can be learnt from this.
