Half of community pharmacies are set to shut within a year without more funding, an industry body has warned. Smaller dispensaries are on a "cliff edge" and closing at a rate of 12 per month, according to the National Pharmacy Association (NPA). The Surrey village of Shepperton is feeling the pinch as only one pharmacy remains after two closed in the last five years, BBC Radio Surrey reports.
Homes remain without gas for third day

Some homes in Surrey remain without gas for a third day after water leaked into a gas network. Gas supplier SGN said a total of 340 homes in the Goldsworth Road area of Woking were affected by damage on Sunday. More than 24,000 litres of water had been pumped out of the gas network as of 21:00 GMT on Monday, SGN said. The exact circumstances of how the water entered SGN infrastructure remains under investigation.

Club's third flood 'more and more of a challenge'

A grassroots Herefordshire football club has said the continued flooding of its home is presenting "more and more of a challenge". Members of Ross Juniors FC are used to the club's home at Ross-on-Wye Sports Centre on Wilton Road being flooded once or twice a year. But this season alone, they have had to deal with a waterlogged pitch three times. "We've had flooding in October, flooding in November, and now flooding in December," said committee member Paul Flitney.

A Paralympic swimmer has spoken of how receiving a King's honour has made her feel the challenges she overcame on the way to success have not been in vain. Rebecca Redfern, 24, from Droitwich, was awarded an MBE for services to young people and the community in Worcestershire at Windsor Castle. Ms Redfern was diagnosed with a condition that limits peripheral vision, retinitis pigmentosa, when she was aged seven.
Man jailed for murdering girlfriend's mother

A man who murdered his girlfriend's mother in a "brutal" knife attack and attempted to kill his girlfriend has been jailed for life. Damian Homer, 51, carried out the attack on Wendy Francis and his partner Stacey Hill at the couple's home on Haresfield Close in Worcester at about 20:30 GMT on 2 March. Detectives described it as "a horrific and brutal attack" which caused lifelong trauma for those involved.
