In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Cromwell Media and Volunteer Owensboro are teaming up to launch a powerful initiative encouraging the community to Be Change For The Child on April 24th. What began as a conversation last fall with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) has grown into a movement—uniting nine local nonprofits that provide critical support to children in crisis.

Governor Andy Beshear is giving an update on conditions throughout Kentucky due to severe weather. Beshear states there have been two weather-related deaths as of Sunday as the Commonwealth contends with record flooding. Over 500-roads are closed from flooding, mudslides and a rockslide. Chicago has provided Elizabethtown with 250 additional barricades and traffic is being rerouted around some areas. The governor is asking those in low-lying areas to move to higher ground.

Owensboro Police are delving into another shooting incident that unfolded over the weekend. Authorities responded late night to reports of gunfire in the 3100 block of Burlew Boulevard. The investigation directed officers to a nearby apartment where a suspect was apprehended. Shell casings were discovered at the scene, hinting at a violent exchange. Concurrently, a 25-year-old man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound and underwent surgery. His current condition remains undisclosed.
