MILWAUKEE — Flashback, if you will, to March 24. Lake Country Lutheran’s girls soccer team has just finished its first practice of the year. And the Lightning, a group with several newcomers in the lineup, didn’t exactly impress. "I was thinking the intention of this year was to rebuild to get us to where we wanted to be for next year," LCL coach Jeremy Hedrick said. The rest of the world would love to rebuild the way the Lightning do.

MILWAUKEE — Nothing is as it seems. That had to be the mantra for Arrowhead’s girls soccer team as it exited Uihlein Soccer Park with tears flowing and heads hung low late Thursday afternoon. The Warhawks appeared to have Madison West down and out time and time again in their WIAA Division 1 state semifinal contest. The Regents battled back, though, for an improbable 6-5 win on penalty kicks in a match that ended in a 3-3 tie.

MILWAUKEE — Brookfield Central. That’s it. That’s the list. In the 43-year history of the WIAA Girls State Soccer Tournament, just one team in Division 1 has won four straight state championships. That was a Lancers juggernaut that won titles from 2002-05. Muskego can change that Saturday. The Warriors rolled past Kimberly 3-0 in a state semifinal Thursday at Uihlein Soccer Park.

PEWAUKEE — Sean Sullivan game planned, watched film and had his Pewaukee girls soccer team extremely well prepared for its WIAA Division 2 sectional final on Saturday. Sullivan had just one final request from his Pirates. "We just didn’t want to go to a shootout," Sullivan said. It’s easy to see why. Pewaukee had been to five sectional finals under Sullivan, and was 0-5 in those contests, including an 0-4 mark in shootouts. Not this year.

The #Packers and #Steelers meet on Oct. 26 in Pittsburgh, and Jordan Love is already excited to see former teammate/mentor/newly married Aaron Rodgers. Story below. https://t.co/izLWGGN3jE
