The curious case of David Fifita has taken another twist with the dumped Titans forward ruled out indefinitely and seeking urgent medical advice. Days after being sent to reserve grade by Gold Coast coach Des Hasler, Fifita will now not play at all this weekend. Instead, he will consult a specialist’s opinion on an ankle injury he underwent surgery on last year. Fifita had a setback in his rehabilitation from the operation which limited his pre-season training.

Des Hasler has dropped a bombshell on the terrible Titans, axing Queensland Origin star David Fifita for Magic Round. In a move that is set to ignite speculation about his future on the Gold Coast, Fifita has been dropped to the extended reserves for Sunday’s showdown with the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium. Hasler appears to have had enough following four straight losses that have seen the Titans plummet into the NRL’s bottom four, where they have finished the past three seasons.

The curse lives on!That’s right friends, I took down yet another captain last week after I made the call to take the armband off Payne Haas and put it onto Jahrome Hughes. The reasoning was sound – Storm on a firm track looked sure to put a big score on the Warriors. Which they duly did. But after injuring his shoulder early in the first half, my man Jahrome floated around on the wing for the remainder of the first half then sat out the second finishing on a mere 16 SC points. What a game we play.

Just call me ‘The Captain Killer.’Having nobbled Tom Trbojevic in rounds two and four and Kalyn Ponga in round three, I added to my streak by putting the kibosh on Payne Haas last weekend. It was not all bad luck though. After being all gung ho about boosting to bring in Kalyn Ponga (who ended up scoring 35 points) last week, my more rationale mind won out – and as a result I ‘had’ to play Isaiah Iongi (who scored 107). Which brings me to this week.
