Ford New Zealand has appointed Tom Newcombe as its new sales director and he will join the business in early July. Newcombe brings 20 years of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) experience to the Blue Oval. He joins Ford from alcoholic beverage company, Lion New Zealand, where he spent the last ten years in a variety of senior leadership positions, most recently as sales strategy and demand director. Real-world testing of hybrid vehicles by the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) on a road loop in Geelong, Victoria, has revealed that some do not deliver on their promised fuel efficiency. The AAA’s program has tested both the hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants of eight popular vehicle models. The Real-World Testing Program tests cars on a 93km public road circuit in and around Geelong, Victoria that has urban, rural and highway segments.
