Takashi Miike's Audition may not be for all tastes, but for those who revel in the genre, Arrow's new Blu-ray will find many a home. I've only been aware of the film on DVD domestically, and the difference between that older DVD release and Arrow's new incarnation is nothing less than astounding. Michael Curtiz's White Christmas (yes, he also directed musicals), the first VistaVision production, shot in 1953, has been restored by Paramount, and much akin to their work on To Catch a Thief, will satisfy the majority of viewers. Those who have problems with the damage suffered by the OCN, with replacement shots or other types of dupes, may not be happy. There is a notable difference between original and dupes, based upon the fact that the masters were of the early 5216 variety.
