    SignificanceA method for approximating a DNA cyclization J factor is developed that is computationally efficient and agrees well with the true value (as assessed via Monte Carlo simulations). Examples show differences in J based on sequence (e.g., due to intrinsic bending) and length (in the 200–400 bp window); these differences can be attributed separately to energy versus entropic factors based on the approximation formula.
