The postseason officially starts on Friday, and it’s time for the fifth and penultimate College Football Playoff rankings. There was some change last week at the top as Washington took over No. 4 and Florida State slipped out of the playoff to No. 5; Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan stayed strong as the top trio. Oregon remained the top one-loss team at No. 6 while Texas, Alabama, Missouri, and Louisville held strong in the 7-10 slots.

The fourth College Football Playoff rankings are coming soon now that Week 12 is over. There was a big change at the top as Ohio State and Georgia swapped top spots, while Michigan and Florida State held firm in the three and four, rounding out the playoff slots. Washington and Oregon were still at Nos 5 and 6, respectively, on the fringes of notching their second CFP appearances.

The third College Football Playoff rankings loom on the horizon, with Week 11 in the books. The top foursome remained static last week, as Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, and Florida State hold strong in the four coveted CFP slots, with Pacific Northwest rivals Washington and Oregon at 5 and 6, respectively, on the outside looking in. Texas slots in at 7, with Alabama nipping at their heels at 8, and Ole Miss and Penn State rounding out the top ten at 9 and 10.

The game that was once prophesied to be a top-10 matchup has petered out in the last few weeks. USC football has lost three of its last four and barely survived other close tests, including their triple-overtime thriller against Arizona and 50-49 barn-burner at Cal. USC’s most recent loss came at the hands of Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington Huskies, the same squad that handed Oregon its only loss of the year.

The general public got our first insight on the College Football Playoff Committee’s rankings last Tuesday. To the shock of many, the CFP Committee had the Ohio State Buckeyes ahead of the Georgia Bulldogs, winners of 26 straight games. They had Michigan and Florida State rounding out the CFP qualifiers with Pac-12 foes Washington and Oregon sitting outside-looking-in at 5 and 6 respectively.
