AbstractAre all forecasters the same? Expectations models incorporating information rigidities typically imply forecasters are interchangeable which predicts an absence of systematic patterns in individual forecast behavior. Motivated by this prediction, we examine the European Central Bank’s Survey of Professional Forecasters and find, in contrast, that participants display systematic patterns in predictive performance both within and across target variables.

A few days ago, I came across a Guardian article titled, “Making Deepfake Images is Increasingly Easy—Controlling their Use is Proving all but Impossible.” This pessimism around the issue of deepfakes is becoming all too familiar. Meanwhile, it seems like every other week I see another newspaper editorial proclaiming the death of the college essay given the supposed impossibility of determining whether students are using forbidden AI tools to do their writing assignments.

The Comedy of Errors is a play about a Syracusan man named Antipholus who wanders in Ephesus with his servant Dromio in search of his twin brother, also named Antipholus, from whom he was separated during infancy.
