The Carpet Shop on Rye Lane anyone? No, me neither. Nor have I made it to Jamboree in King’s Cross yet. There are at least a dozen others that are strangers to me.

Slowly Rolling Camera – Dave Stapleton, Elliot Bennett, Deri RobertsI MUST admit I had my trepidations about seeing a gig at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens. And not just because it is south of the river. This tower-block dominated part of Nine Elms in Vauxhall – now home to the US Embassy – is, at night at least, a bit too reminiscent of a Blade Runner dystopia for my liking. I think I expected something equally sterile from the venue.

War, the Californian band co-founded by Eric Burdon of The Animals in the late 60s, has just Leroy “Lonnie” Jordan (vocals/keys) from the original crew. But that is like saying Chic only has Nile Rodgers from the original band of that name. At 75, Lonnie turned out to spry, limber and in great voice.

Then, last Friday, August 25, officers arrested Ryan again after discovering hundreds of images and videos of child pornography. Mt Pleasant Police had previously started an investigation involving Ryan after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) sent them a referral for online child pornography.
