Robert Triggs / Android Authority I've used some brilliant camera phones this year, and now it's the OnePlus 13's turn to come across my desk. I'll let you in on a secret; I've been using the OPPO Find X8 Pro as my daily driver for some time now - largely because of its brilliant quad-camera array. But what excites me about the OnePlus 13 is that it shares virtually the same setup, minus the 6x optical zoom camera.

Android 16 is finally here, but unfortunately, some of the best features are still on the horizon. One upcoming tool that I've been keeping a particularly close eye on is Android 16's Desktop Mode, currently available in the QPR1 Beta 2. It's been a while since I gave Samsung's equivalent Dex setup a go, so I'm very keen to see what's different, what's new, and how far things have come.

Robert Triggs / Android Authority After recently reminiscing about my favorite camera phones, it occurred to me that my fondest time writing about and playing around with smartphones all happened in a rather short period of time - the early 2010s. Of course, there were great phones before then and plenty of technically superior ones after that sliver of time. However, I still think 2010-2015 represents the most exciting time to be a smartphone aficionado, and not just because of the hardware.

Forget summer already; it's software season, and it's positively raining betas. Between Android 16 and the new iOS 26, I've been knee-deep in mobile OSs and, well... I have notes. If you're a regular reader, you might know that I'm not a huge fan of Google's new Material 3 Expressive. I don't hate it, but certainly don't love its paranoia of anything approaching a right-angle. But compared to what Apple's been cooking up in iOS 26, Material 3 Expressive looks like the modern-day Creation of Adam.

I'm a chaotic gadget charger, topping up my phone as and when rather than sticking to a rigorous overnight routine like a normal person. As such, you might think that wireless charging would be right up my street - pop the phone down, give it a little juice, and be back on my way. Unfortunately, wireless charging is notoriously slow, meaning that even half an hour on the dock is seldom enough for me.
