The line was supposed to be the star of the 2024 Hurricanes defense, and by and large the unit performed admirably. DE Reuban Bain Jr. was the presumptive star of the defense heading into the season.

Miami’s defense was the polar opposite, constantly letting the offense down and forcing Ward to play superhero gun slinger. Despite an objectively putrid performance on defense, a few Hurricanes defenders managed to turn in a solid 2024 season.

The ACC received two bids to the College Football Playoff, just one fewer than the (once) mighty SEC, and one more than the single-bid Big XII. But, there is a gap wider than Biscayne Bay between the revenue received by the SEC and the Big Ten, on the one hand, and the ACC on the other.
