Later this week, we'll finally dig into one of the more intriguing (and surprising?) NBA Finals matchups in recent memory. In one corner, you have reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's historically dominant Oklahoma City Thunder, who have only really been pushed this postseason by Nikola Jokić's Denver Nuggets. These great Thunder will enter the 2025 Finals with over a week's rest. Gulp.

From the start of the Indiana Pacers' battle with the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals, it was abundantly clear that "underrated" Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton wanted to wholeheartedly embrace being the latest Knicks playoff villain. He wouldn't have done Reggie Miller's infamous choke sign during a wild Game 1 victory if this weren't the case.

Suffice it to say, the Indiana Pacers would not be in the 2025 NBA Finals without Tyrese Haliburton's uncanny creativity and Eastern Conference Finals MVP Pascal Siakam's versatile scoring skillset. Well, the Pacers can also actually thank Paul George for his help, but that's a different conversation. Haliburton and Siakam have been so incredible while working in concert for the Pacers over the last six weeks that it should now be easy to call them one of the NBA's current best duos.

This Thursday, one of the more unconventional NBA Finals in some time will tip off between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers. The funny twist is that this series likely never comes close to happening without the services of one ... Paul George. As a nine-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA player, George has clearly had one of the better careers of his generation.

You could've forgiven the electric Tyrese Haliburton for thinking it was his "moment" in the aftermath of the Indiana Pacers clinching their first NBA Finals berth in a quarter-century. After all, Indiana's franchise talisman tore up the New York Knicks to the tune of a 21-point, 10.5-assist, 6-rebound, 2.5-steal average over six Eastern Conference Finals (ECF) games. Suffice it to say, Ben Stiller wasn't the only Knicks-adjacent person feeling Haliburton's wrath over the last couple of weeks.
