In the spectrum of self-care, “news holidays” have ascended to a spot somewhere between actual holidays and kale smoothies. Not on the menu most days, but something one might contemplate when they’re feeling spent. During the past 100 days or so, even the most resilient news consumers have felt pretty depleted. Throw in a high-profile sexual assault trial, and reserves can plummet. Throw in two, and it feels like 2018 all over again. We seem to be moving in reverse.
