    Here are a few of the stories we're reading this week:An Apple store is coming to WoodwardWe don't have an opening date yet, but an Apple store is being built out in downtown Detroit. In the fall, Crain's reported that job postings had gone up for the location. Last week, Daily Detroit broke the news that a website was up for the new store, "Coming Soon." It will be on the same block as the Shinola, close to the new Hudson's development (as seen above).

    Here's what we're reading as we move into February. An affordable alteration in the District DetroitCould we see a new apartment building break ground soon in the District Detroit near the University of Michigan Center for Innovation? It looks more likely, as this week the Michigan Strategic Fund approved an ask from the developers, Olympia and Related Companies, removing the affordable housing component from this particular building (2205 Cass).

    Another development on East Warren is one step closer to groundbreaking. The Arthur Murray project, the adaptive reuse of a former dance studio, was awarded $2.4 million by the Michigan Strategic Fund this week. The Michigan Community Revitalization Program (MCRP) performance-based loan was approved for Aria Warren Detroit, LLC and the development is led by Real Estate Interests, LLC.

    A new apartment complex along Vernor Highway near Clark Park has officially opened in Southwest Detroit. Officials gathered this week to cut the ribbon at La Joya Gardens, which brings 53 new apartments, plus community and retail space to the busy neighborhood. 11 of these apartments are market-rate while 42 are designated as affordable, for those earning 30% to 80% of the area median income. According to a press release from the city, a one-bedroom affordable apartment can start at $540 per month.

    Earlier this week, officials celebrated new residential in a northwest Detroit neighborhood. The Residence at West Outer Drive opened while Minock Park Place broke ground in Grandmont Rosedale. The city and county joined Cinnaire Solutions and the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation (GRDC) for the event. Both projects are part of the Strategic Neighborhood Fund.
