1. IntroductionPreterm infants continue to have a high risk of disability in survivors, despite progressively improved survival [1]. Experimental and clinical research in full-term and pre-term and neonates shows that the severity of hypoxia-ischemia (HI) is associated with the severity of injury in the white and grey matter [2,3], and, in turn, with changes in the electroencephalogram (EEG) after HI [4,5].
