COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine's proposed budget would have added almost $22 million dollars to expand the state's Help Me Grow program. Advocates have told 10TV the extra money would have provided 25,000 more Ohio moms with in-home medical care. They also say it would close gaps in health care for moms and babies of color. But right now, the version making its way through the Ohio Senate cuts that money. However, it does include funding to hire an additional employee.

If passed as is, the law would waive that potential fee for victim's of a crime and their attorney or insurance company. It's a change that Gov.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Amanda Bornheim is a supervisor for the Help Me Growprogram at Action for Children. "We go into the home every week and we meet with the families. We talk about positive parenting, we talk about building nurturing relationships with their children," she said. She manages a team of six who currently serves at least 90 low-income families in central Ohio. "Those first 1,000 days of life are critical," said Bornheim.
