    National Highways has placed a new order with Toyota for a fleet of fully electric vans and cars to support its decarbonisation programme. The 18 new Proace vans and a further 40 bZ4X cars, follows on from the 50 bZ4X electric SUVs delivered to National Highways in 2024. Toyota’s supply of battery electric vehicles is contributing to National Highways’ commitment to make its corporate emissions net zero by 2030.

    Urban Fox has secured a contract with Newport City Council to install 120 lamp post EV chargers in the area, with some streets featuring multiple units. Instead of building new infrastructure, the chargers will be installed directly onto existing streetlamps to maximise pavement space, improve accessibility and maintain the character of the residential streets. Urban Fox is a partnership between Balfour Beatty Investments and Urban Electric Networks.

    First Bus is investing £70m in another 160 zero-emission buses in the West of England, on its journey to become a 100% zero-emission fleet by 2035. In total, 27 of the 160 vehicles will be repowered diesel buses, and each one will reduce carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) by 75 tonnes a year compared to the existing diesel fleet.

    First Bus has ordered 24 new Wrightbus StreetDeck Electroliner double-decker electric buses for its routes 1 and 2 in Aberdeen, servicing the Robert Gordon University. The £12.7 million investment has also brought 12 electric repowers to Aberdeen – traditional internal combustion engine buses converted to electric. This arrival of the electric fleet makes the proportion of zero-emission vehicles in First Bus’s Aberdeen fleet one of the highest in the UK.
