It’s not hard to fathom why those in the darkroom were tempted to play tricks with the technology as soon as they learned that they could. The most obvious motive is the one that fuelled so much early photographic output: PR, or propaganda. It must have seemed only natural to superimpose Lincoln’s head on to the body of another man – an enslaver, as irony would have it – if that would yield a more heroic image of the president.

Mathew tells us that baby Jesus was born a homeless asylum seeker. His parents fled with the newborn Redeemer to Egypt in order to save his life. The King wanted him dead so they became political refugees. The family stayed there until the psychopath died and they returned to Galilee. While this fulfilled prophecy, we aren't given any more of the story of Jo, Mary, and the young Son of Man's time as immigrants. We don't know what the immigration experience was like for them.

Deuteronomy 34:1–12 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is across from Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan . . . . So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord. And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day. Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died.

We grew up hearing many “facts” that we assumed must have solid research backing them up. Your tongue has four distinct areas of tastebuds. Not really. The white stuff oozing out of that AA battery is acid, right? Nope. It’s actually a base, the opposite of an acid (though it can still give you a chemical burn). Blood is red in your arteries and blue in your veins. No, it’s always red. Lightning never strikes the same place twice.

But That’s the Problem Many people claim that the problem is just that—the God of the Bible is much too demanding. He expects people to only worship him, follow a list of rules, act a certain way, hang out with certain people, and avoid certain people. So many expectations and such harsh judgment! They would prefer a loving god who accepts them for who they are and validates their choices. If they could find that god, they would probably worship him . . . or her.
