The team detected “neighbourhoods” or regions of particularly high levels of change during the past decade. To do this, they used three decades of geospatial data and long-term temperature records to assess temperature, moisture and vegetation states. The analysis found that the far eastern Siberian tundra and central Siberia witnessed substantial land warming during 1997-2020. Tundra is a biome with almost no trees due to a short growing season and permafrost.

On January 3, 2025, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) released the long-awaited draft ‘Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025’ and invited feedback or comments before January 18, 2025. The draft rules will help implement the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, after it was approved by the President on August 11, 2023.

India, Jan. 10 -- The year 2024 has surpassed 2023 as the warmest year on record globally. It is also the first calendar year that the average global temperature exceeded 1.5 C above its pre-industrial level, confirms the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). The global average temperature was 15.10 C, which was 0.72 C above the 1991-2020 average, and 0.12 C above 2023 - the previous warmest year on record. This, according to Copernicus, is equivalent to 1.60 C above the pre-industrial level.

India, Jan. 10 -- African nations are projected to spend close to 30 per cent of their revenue servicing debts in 2025, according to a United Nations (UN) Report titled World Economic Situation and Prospects. Close to 25 countries in Africa have net interest payments exceeding 10 per cent of revenue, the report highlighted. This comes against subdued growth prediction, with 1.4 per cent growth expected in 2025 from 0.7 per cent in 2024.
