Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny has shared that cancer has given him a new perspective on his life. The former Fine Gael leader underwent an operation to remove his cancer in 2022, and he confirmed he is in recovery. Mr Kenny, who retired from politics in 2020, said that he has a renewed appreciation for life and the people in it. "You do understand that it’s about what we have, not what we want," he said.

Her debut novel, The Daisy Picker, won a ‘write a bestseller’ competition in 2002, launching a writing career that would spawn 20 more books, all of which have featured in the Irish bestsellers list. In 2022, she was shortlisted for the Library Association’s ‘author of the year’ category at the An Post Irish Book Awards. The Kerry-born writer is currently working on her 22nd novel, Moving On, which is due for publication in February. Meaney lives in Co Clare.

The thing about writing a Christmas book is that it generally gets written in spring or summer. Writers of festive offerings are like fashion designers, always working a couple of seasons ahead. I remember writing my last Christmas book, It’s That Time of Year, when it definitely wasn’t that time of year. I had met my editor towards the end of February, shortly after I’d finished the final edits for The Restaurant, which was scheduled for publication in June of that year.
