Chase Stuckey was sworn in as the newest member of the Stryker school board at its meeting Monday. Stuckey takes the place of Jason Leupp, whose resignation was accepted at the March meeting. Stuckey will serve through Dec. 31, which is the end of Leupp’s term. After that, he said he plans to run for a full term. Stuckey said he saw an announcement in the school newsletter and heard from several local business leaders who said it might be something he wanted to consider.

Construction continues on a $4.1 million two-part expansion project at the Stryker School. When complete in time for the beginning of the 2025-26 school year, the expansion will provide a pair of unique learning spaces that Superintendent Nate Johnson says will set Stryker School apart from any other school in Ohio. The project will add two new hands-on, technology-driven learning spaces that will function as more than just classrooms.

STRYKER - The village's annual budget ended 2024 more than $55,000 in the black, Stryker Fiscal Officer Beth Rediger told council Monday night. Receipts totaled $1,523,075.84, versus expenditures of $1,467,720.50, which is $55,355.34 to the good, Rediger said. Rediger also reported the village very narrowly qualified to be able to apply for Community Development Block Grant funds for the next five years.

The Stryker Local Schools Board of Education in its annual reorganization meeting Thursday chose Brent Froelich as president and Emily Clemens as vice president for 2025. The board also set their monthly meetings for the third Monday of the month, at 5:30 p.m. in the high school conference room. The meetings are open to the public.
