Political theater extends back to the Greeks. William Shakespeare wrote about politics in “Coriolanus” and other plays. A personal favorite of mine was “Fiorello!”, a 1959 musical about New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. What happened in Newark last week was political theater at its worst.

The Food Pantries for the Capital District recently awarded Brunswick’s Sharon Derby its Rensselaer County Volunteer of the Year award at the nonprofit’s annual Coffee & CommuniTea volunteer recognition event. Derby has been a volunteer for Brunswick Cares Community Food Pantry for more than 15 years and began the pantry’s Meal of the Month program to improve client choice for pantry visitors.
