Last Thursday, Robinhood announced that it had acquired1 the European centralized crypto exchange, Bitstamp, for $200 million in cash. Founded in Slovenia in 2011, Bitstamp is among the oldest crypto exchanges, with more than 50 active licenses to operate across the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Asia. In addition to retail spot crypto trading, Bitstamp services institutions as a prime broker, institutional lender, and staking provider.
